Public SWX gateway is down!
At some point today, the public SWX gateway was taken offline by my web host, HTTPme. I cannot begin to state how disappointed I am with them as at no time did they contact me to tell me that they had done this. When I opened a trouble ticket with them (after noticing that the /services folder was set to 000 permissions), I got the following reply:
Hello, this folder has been disabled due to the critical server overload.
Thanks -- Serg
Well, thank-you-very-much for telling me! Unbelievable!
I since replied that I would like the SWXFormat.org site moved to a dedicated server and I am waiting for their response. This has left such a sour taste in my mouth, though, that I am going to look for a different host for the dedicated server. I may, however, move it to one with them just to get the site up and running again as fast as possible.
It's so sad because I've been with these people for the past five years and they were so amazing (at least at the beginning). I am still in disbelief that they would do this. It's the worst thing you can do as a web host and it isn't the first time it has happened to me either. It's a horrible thing to disable someone's application without telling them. Instead, you should contact them and propose a solution ("look, you've outgrown this account, let's move you to this one.")
I am very disappointed in you HTTPme. What a horrible way to handle things.
I am working to get the public SWX gateway up and running as soon as possible and I apologize profusely for this unplanned outage.
