It's been such a busy few weeks with the move and Flash on the Beach conference that I didn't get the change to blog about a little something I started right before the move. I call it Leggo art.

The idea is simple:

Make a small Lego sculpture, take a picture of it, then add a note to it and release it to the world. The note simply asks whomever finds it to get some Lego and add to the sculpture before taking a picture of it and setting it free ("leggo of it", get it, get it?) :P

In the next few days, I'm going to create a site at leggoart.org where Leggo artists can talk, share stories and photos (there's currently nothing there -- I only just reserved the domain name a few moments ago.)

I released my first Leggo piece right before my move. I didn't even have the chance to print up a nice note so I hand wrote it. Luckily, someone did find it. Her name's Laura and she posted a note on the comments for my Moving is hell post. Laura, if you're reading this, I'd love to hear the continuing story of the first Leggo sculpture. Feel free to send me a picture or link to it from the comments! :)

• Hi Aral.. Isn't it Lego (with one g) or is it something that i can get? Anyway i start playing with lego a few weeks ago and is so much fun.. • Hi Savvas, The bricks are definitely "Lego", with one "g". "Leggo" is slang for (or merely a slurred form of) "let go". So the key thing is that you create something but then you release it to the world and let other people add to it. It's a social thing :)

• There are a number of great Lego sites focused on ebay like sales, videos and art/modeling. You should check out www.brickfilms.com, they have hundreds of stop motion type videos made using Legos. There are some that are fantastic, hilarious, or great animations.
