If you're on T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk on a Mac, you probably use the imaginatively-named "stick manager" to connect to the Internet. While it is a remarkable piece of software engineering (with helpful alerts like "Success to Connect!", "Fail to Connect!", and, my favorite, "Success to Disconnect"), it is actually an entirely unnecessary bit of bloatware.

To connect without it, simply open System Preferences, select the HUAWEI Mobile device, and enter the phone number *99# in the Telephone Number section, click Apply, and then Connect.

Voilà, you're online!

Or, as they say it in T-Mobile speak: Success to Connect!

• Fantastic, Perhaps now I can simplify things for my mum who has all sorts of problems with this pile of crap software for the mac. It really was an afterthought - 'oh, better do something for mac users'. Thanks for sharing this information which will make life a little easier! :-)

• i have got a web'n'walk Stick and it used to work on my MacBook then about a week ago it just stopped working. out of frustration i deleted the application from my HD so i could re-install the Stick and start anew( i don't know why i did that in the first place). And after that the Stick just wouldn't re-install. was i to uninstall rather than delete it?(i don't know how to uninstall any applications, at all as i'm sort of new to the Mac system and haven't really got the hang of it). the thing is the Stick works on my acer. need some illumination! how come i do not see HUAWEI Mobile device on my Mac? is that specifically for UK only? i'm in germany.

• To naav: If you deinstall the software, you also deinstall the drivers necessary to run the stick. However, you can also open up System Settings/Network, then click the Huawei Mobile entry, and add the connection settings yourself, after which you don't need the T-Systems software anymore. You also need to disable the PIN. To marc: Disabling the PIN is easy, just open the L2N Configurator, select Settings/Einstellungen, disable "PIN-Nummer automatisch übergeben", then close the software, confirming the settings. After that, remove the card, remove the SIM card from your stick and pop it into a mobile of your choice. Start the mobile, connect to the network, then search your mobile settings for the option to disable the PIN (usually under Settings or Options). Disable the PIN and restart the mobile to confirm that it connects to the network without you having to enter the PIN. Shut it off again, remove the SIm card and pop it back into the stick. Voila!

• T-Mobile stick worked well with my old Macbook. I have just bought a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and it simply will not work at all. Plug in the stick and it crashes repeatedly. Support? What support?

• Mac book pro with SL, right click web n walk manager open the package content, double click "Contents" double click "Resources" Double click MobilePartner.mpkg and installation will install drivers and package. Don't use the app but follow directions above from Aral. This will install the complete bloat but you only need the drivers to recognise your Huawei stick. Works fine for me, using the stick while typing this comment.regards Emiel

• well any tipsfor doing the same thing with a huawei e176? for some reason you need to run the internet mobile manager first before you can do the trick.. lame protection thing?

• i have no service where live but t-mobile advertises that there is service and now i cant seem to get my money back for the min card i wasted on going through them and im a stay home mom please help if u can thanks:)
